WELL DONE TO YOU ALL Tuesday 6th December 2011 Sorry I haven't said to much about Saturdays meeting, been laid up with the flu. First up what I would like to say is this year's tour to Australia has been the best. Not because we won the series, however that has really helped put a smile on the teams face. What has made this year's tour the best is all the positive help we have had from both our crew and the Queensland speedway family.
Last year was so sad for the sport and was so close to putting the scholarship in the waste bin........... this year however we have had great support from motorcycling Queensland (and its staff) Pioneer Park speedway and all its helpers and off course both Brandon and North Brisbane have been great to deal with as well.
Speedway has been the winner, we have had a lot of luck go our way and this helped us win the series 3 to zip. The best thing about this year's tour has been watching young guns Hayden Barr, Robert Gottardi, Michael Detenon, Hayden Sims, Ellis Perks and Dalton Nilsen raise their skill level and it's fair to say speedway is in good hands. It's also fair to note that having Craig Drennon (drenno), Les Nichols and Ray Barney involved in the test series has taken speedway teams meetings to the next level in Queensland.
The spirit all 3 tests were held in was just great. Mind you those local Ayr boys never hold up the white flag. Somehow next season if we can get the support from the UK.... (most of our sponsors are Queensland and local companies. We would like to run test matches in every state that wants us, thus leaving the Queensland championships to the locals. Only time will tell.
To finish I would just like to say that Mr. Davey Watt was great on Saturday night, he had everything to lose and very little to gain yet he was just great. What a great job he did on and off the track.... cheers Davey. We sure could use you again another time. Thank you to everybody who help make the last 6 weeks the great time it has been...... well done to you all.
LIONS 50 PIONEER PARK 40 Sunday 4th December 2011 The Darren and Sharon Boocock future sport motorcycles young British lions created history in far north Queensland last night when they clinched the third and final test match in a very one sided and at times heated teams meeting. Pioneer park (North Queensland) roped in GP and Elite league star Davey Watt ,to help the local team lower the British lions colours, didn't work...... if anything it bonded the Brits into a wonderful young and at times very outstanding speedway team. Every rider gave it 100% and against all odds came away from Pioneer Park 3 nil up in the best off 3 series. The Boocock cup remains in British hands. Pioneer Park fielded a very strong team including Davey watt, Josh Grajonek, Damo Koppe, Steven Reid and local Ayr riders Clinton Dennis, Hayden Barr and Ricky Barney. The young British lions were unchanged from the last two test matches. The Darren and Sharon Boocock Future Sport Motorcycles Young British Lions 50 Pioneer Park 40 Points as follows Pioneer Park 1. Queensland has enjoyed a great bunch of lads called the Darren and Sharon Boocock speedway scholarship tour. Let's hope we can find the sponsors for next year's tour, Great Britain you should very proud of these wonderful young men. Thank you Marcus and Beverley Williams
Marcus Williams Monday 21st November 2011 Thanks for all the wonderful phone calls and text messages from every body regards the scholarship riders........ That meeting at Brandon was one of the best meetings in over 20 years. Everybody played there part from Gary Davey to Sandy Golding and Ann Morato.
We had some bad luck and some good luck and in the end the best rider won on the night. Clinton Dennis was so unlucky with a chain failure and a puncture. Steve Worrall would have made the final but yet again he missed out due to engine drama. Josh Auty played a true captains knock by giving up his rides and his bike for Steve Worrall to ride and what about are great team in the pits 4 men doing 7 or 8 bikes at one time.
To Peter Ravn at Scandic-CNC you are a legend mate.... Thanks for your help and support. The final massive big thank you goes to Steve Koppe.... Without your help mate we just couldn't run the Darren and Sharon Boocock Speedway Scholarship. As they say in the movies mate I really would take a bullet for you.... you LEGEND.
To Andy and Tat thanks mates for keeping your eyes open and pointing us in the right direction regards English talent. YORKSHIRE FISH CAKE, DRENNO, JASON, AND STEVE KELL CHEERS......

Speedway was the winner yet again and I’m sure when the lads go home to England they will be missed...... Well done to the scholarship riders Bev and myself are so very very proud of you all.
The Future Sport Motorcycle Young British Lions Win and keep the Boocock Cup..... Monday 7th November 2011 The Young British Lions have won the coveted “Boocock Cup” defeating QLD Select Teams in the first two test matches on the weekend. Thrilling the spectators with “high speed” “close quarters” and exceptional solo speedway teams racing at the Brandon Motorsport Complex Saturday night and Pioneer Park Speedway (Sunday evening).
Test Match No. 1 The QLD side started Saturday nights test match with all their heatleaders winning early races against their highly fancied opponents, the touring side having to rally to fill all minor placings to keep the scores level! This was until Brandon track hero Clinton Dennis’s bike ground to a halt when leading English Captain Josh Auty in heat nine, this misfortune swung the tide to the young Lions and the touring side began to assert control with outstanding teams riding to close out the efforts of the hard charging QLDer’s. Man of the match and top point scorer Josh Grajczonek enjoying his return from a season ending injury, sustained during a Premier League match in UK.
The Young British Lions winning the first test match, 47 points to 43.
British Lions 47 Kyle Howarth 7pts. Ashley Morris 5pts. Richie Worrall 6pts. Steven Worrall 4pts. (Capt) Josh Auty 11pts. Tom Perry 8pts. Robert Gottardi 6pts.
Ayr Motorcycle Club Team 43 Damien Koppe 6pts, Steven Reid 3pts. Scott McKenna 2pts. Clinton Dennis 13pts. Josh Grajczonek 13pts. Michael Penfold 5pts. Hayden Barr 1pt.
Test Match No. 2 Again the QLDers’ started the test match with a resounding win and heat one max score for Damien Koppe and Kurt Palmer, the British Lions quickly responded in the second heat with a maximum score and the “gloves were off”! Another thrilling race meeting developed as both sides topguns and their teammates battled every heat, the spectators having to watch two races in one, the battle between first and second and closely behind the other battle for third and fourth! The inspiring QLDer’s efforts were exceptional, most noteably Damien Koppes sensational change of racing line on the last corner of heat ten passing both Britains and beating them to chequered flag! This sent supporters into hysterics and an upset hinted. The British Lions then exhibited their own speed and skills with their Captain Josh Auty producing his “man of the match” top point score by defeating Josh Grajczonek in heats 13 & 15 and motivating his team mates as they began to assert control. The touring side celebrating a hard fought and deserved win over a gallant QLD squad.
Speedway the winner as spectators duly applauded the fantastic racing from the two combatants!

Young Lions ready to roar in speedway Ashes battle ANTONY STEWART - www.townsvillebulletin.com.au THE Young British Lions are on the scent of North Queensland blood. With a ferocity and intensity they reckon is as menacing as anything seen in the Ashes, Britain's best up-and-coming solo speedway riders are set to hit Ayr Motorcycle Club's Brandon track and Pioneer Park to battle the North's most talented riders over the weekend. It is the first time in close to 25 years the international-class challenge tour has been brought to Australia. "It's worse than the cricket, it is fierce and the rivalry has started already," Young British Lions tour manager Marcus Williams said.
Many of the Brits' best under-21 riders will utilise North Queensland as their base during an intense eight-week tour, funded by international program the Darren and Sharon Boocock Speedway Scholarship. Many are riders who have conquered Australia previously. Skipper Josh Auty created history two years ago when he won both the Queensland under-21 championships and the senior Queensland solo championships in the same year. "Our young British Lions have won three of the last four Queensland titles, they won the Test series last year 2-nil, so (Queensland) have really pulled out all the stops this year to try and knock our boys off," Williams said.
The locals will be represented by Damien Koppe, Steven Reid, Scott McKenna, Clinton Dennis, Josh Grajczonek, Michael Penfold and Hayden Barr in Brandon, with Kurt Palmer, Michael Penfold and Michael Detenon joining the squad at Pioneer Park. Action starts at 6.30pm tomorrow and 4pm Sunday.
